If the Lakers were to get Dwight Howard (who Ric Bucher has reported WILL be traded this off-season), would they be significantly better if this trade went down:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=67o2cqt
Lakers get:
Dwight Howard
Gilbert Arenas
________________________
Magic get:
Andrew Bynum
Lamar Odom
Ron Artest
The Lakers new starting lineup AND rotation would be:
PG Gilbert Arenas-Derek Fisher-Steve Blake
SG Kobe Bryant-Shannon Brown
SF Matt Barnes-Devin Ebanks-Luke Walton
PF Pau Gasol-Joe Smith-Derek Caracter
CE Dwight Howard-Theo Ratliff
The Magic's roster would look to improve SIGNIFICANTLY IMO:
PG Jameer Nelson-Chris Duhon
SG Jason Richardson-JJ Reddick
SF Hedo Turkoglu-Ron Artest-Quentin Richardson
PF Lamar Odom-Brandon Bass
CE Andrew Bynum-Daniel Orton
The thing is, I think this makes LA's bench weaker but their Starting Lineup a lot better and it makes Orlando a deeper team. They have 4 guys who can handle and distribute the ball in the lineup and Orlando would be a BIG team then.
Either way, this trade from my point of view, improves both teams and isn't good for the Heat. I doubt Dwight goes to LA tho, but what are your thoughts if (God forbid) this went down. |

I honestly think that it would make Orlando a better team. I see Andrew Bynum exploding if he went to the Magic, becomming a 20 and 10 player. Turkoglu and Odom would be incredibly deadly and they have all of the shooters they would need.
LA would like you said, be ridiculously good. Dwight and Gasol would be brutal, even moreso if they get some backup big men.
Personally I would love for New Orleans to get Dwight, but I would be OK with Portland or even OKC getting him as well. |

I would love for them to get him. But who would they have to trade for him? David West? Okafor?
I think this is where the Hornets messed up by trading Thornton and Collison for minor pieces. They should have developed them further and actually use them as trade bait for a big piece like Howard. |

I'm sure they could make a play for him. They have some nice pieces in Okafor, West, Landry, Jack and Ariza. I'm praying that they do and the Lakers don't. |

if i was orlando and wanted to keep dwight i would make a play for westbrook him and dwight would be great and he wouldnt have to worry about taking shots because even though he isnt the best player he will have the ball in his hands over dwight
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=3arvspa
that wont be enough but if they could add earl clark to that trade it might be enough |
