Anybody here lift weights? If so, do you use dumbbells, barbells, or kettlebells???
Anyways, I started lifting weights maybe about a month ago (I'm 16) and I'm currently using one dumbbell workouts to isolate the different muscle groups (biceps, triceps, etc.).
I'm just curious how many people are currently lifting weights and how they recover on their non-lifting days. (i.e. drinking whey protein shakes, eating protein like tuna, grilled chicken, etc.) |

I used to work out a TON, but then my workout buddy moved away used to do supersets with kettlebells and suicide sets on leg days we did each of those at least once a week and did regular isolation sets on other days with the cable cross, dumbells and barbells, my favorite was negatives on bicepts with barbells |

Well since I'm a beginner I've done the basics like concentration curls, Zottman curls, hammers, dead lifts, shrugs, tricep extensions, front raises, lateral raises, flat chest presses, and tricep kickbacks.
And really? I'm 16 and I can bench press about 210.. |

If only BrownGummyBear didn't disappear from either of the boards, he's a big weight lifting guy.
Personally I'm not so much myself, but I have a question.
I want to get a 6 pack or at least something close to it, right now I am about 5'10" and 155lbs, I haven't played competitive team/organized basketball in about a year and half so I am kinda out of shape now, my stomach is starting to get bigger and I don't like it.
I want to get in better shape, so what do you guys reccomend, as far as dieting and a training regimen/workouts to do? Thanks, a response would be appreciated. |

Well if you have belly fat, you should work to get rid of that first. Cardio is the only way to target all fatty areas in your body. After you are satisfied with the results, start doing ab workouts (preferably with weights to target those abs more) and you will start seeing the results. |

So by cardio do you mean a lot of running or what? And can you give me a link to a Youtube video of what you would think would be an effective exercise to lose weight and build muscle tone in the adominals?
And what do you guys reccomend for eating, as far as a strict diet that won't put weight on me but help give me energy and stenghten my core?
Thanks for the help guys. |

Yes I'd recommend cardio for about 30 mins a day. Things like running (or one workout I like are suicides).
Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKT9ftn-O5E
That guy is a beast and he shows beginning, intermediate, and advanced workouts for the core and abs.
After every workout you do to gain muscle, protein is a great supplement to not gaining muscle, but assisting the muscle to recover to it's fullest potential. Whey protein shakes are good for this but if you want food, eat a lot of tuna. Tuna has the protein to help recover better and can also shed body fat. You can have tuna as a lunch or dinner thing by having tuna salad or a tuna sandwich. You can even implement it into a snack by just eating it with crackers.
Here's a chart of foods and how many grams of protein they have.
