Well being that I live in the motherland of football I guess I'll get things rolling here...hopefully it will be more active than the zero amounts of activity it had on the other boards.

Anyway, I'm an Arsenal fan. Was born and raised in North London so its my hometown team. I actually like football more than basketball but I still am very interested in basketball obviously.

We're the only English team left with a possibility to win the quadruple: League Cup, Premier League Title, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League. Obviously I don't expect us to win the quadruple but we should win at least the League Cup (Carling Cup) seeing as we're in the finals as of last night. The title is still within grasp, and that's a positive seeing as we are playing two bench defenders along with the fact that Walcott, Van Persie and Fabregas have missed significant games this season.

I still hope Wenger buys a defender in January, that has been our weak link the past few seasons as we concede silly goals due to defensive lapses and it messes up our rhythm (and consistency). Vermaelen is going to be out for the next six weeks or so, so we need some depth there. If Koscielny or Djourou go down we are fucked. I liked the sound of Cahill from Bolton but they're demanding way to much apparently. Mertesacker from Werder Bremen is also an option, plus he gives us some much needed height (6 ft 6in Shocked). I'm not sure about his mobility though, as English football is very fast paced, and I don't know what the pace is like in Bundesliga.

So yeah, what are your favourite teams?

Dont really watch soccer that much but I would say Real Madrid is my favorite team. I watch soccer more when it's international games but UEFA is always fun to watch as well.

Manchester United and Zenit are my favorites. But anyway I'm not a big fan of football.

i gotta say i dont mind soccer. its a good sport and enjoy rooting for my team and stuff,

but i haaaate the world cup.

it is the most annoying time in the world, atleast in miami.

the whole world becomes an "arroyo thread". all of a sudden people loveeee sports and our rocking flags of countries theyre not even from.

i get into like 80 fights during the world cup, and if it were up to me, they would only play the USA games on tv, so if you wanna watch "youre country" play, you gotta fly there. lol

I love the world cup! There's nothing wrong with rooting for your country, be it your background or place of birth. I'm Albanian but they're barely ever in major tournaments so I always support England because its where I was bought up. but if you're one of those tossers that supports another country for no reason then... yeah you're a CHAMPION tosser.

The beauty of football really comes alive for me when I watch the FA Cup. Its like imagine Basketball had a hierarchy of, lets say 3 or 4 leagues. All these teams from these lower leagues may be shit but have been around just as long as the top teams and have very loyal fanbases as well. The passion of the fans and players just comes alive and you get goosebumps. A very good example was the recent Arsenal vs Leeds game (played in Leeds - a lower league side). I almost wanted Leeds to score because the atmosphere was just electric. The english brand of football is more fast paced and physical as well which adds to it.

May have gone off on another tangent there but yeah I fucking love football Very Happy

Yeah, thats one thing I really Like about Soccer/football is the fact that they have that tournament where all the super teams from each of the top leagues face eachother.

I used to watch a lot of premier league and Spanish football, but the past 2 seasons I've switched over to La Liga only, simply because of the rivalry between Barcelona and Read Madrid. Also, most of the players that I follow are in La Liga, like David Villa, Kaka, and Messi.

You gonna watch Arsenal/Barca? Should be a good fixture, two teams that play the most beautiful football. I expect Barca to win but hopefully we can give them a better game than last time.

If Nasri can return in time for the second leg as well that would be crucial as we're playing in Barca I think. It also depends on how we do in the first leg. I'm still not fully convinced by Barca's defence, so hopefully we can exploit that.

Yeah definitely. I don't think that the Barcelona defense is their best weapon, they tend to win their games by keeping possession and constantly applying the pressure. I see Walcott giving the defense problem at the wings with his pace, since Pique is shaky at times and Puyols is slowing down.
