This trade worried me at first, but now I actually feels that it benefits us. When they use Gasol at the PF, and Bynum at the C, we had to have Bosh on Gasol and then have Z guard Bynum. (Of course this wasn't a problem in the Christmas game because Bynum came off the bench) With this trade, we will be able to have Big Z guard Gasol which we all know is his kryptonite because Z's length always gives Gasol problems. By trading Bynum for Melo, they pretty much lose the post presence they've had the last 3 years and more importantly will lose rebounding and post defence. The Lakers will also have to worry about chemistry for this season. Also, both Kobe and Melo are ball dominant players, much more than how it is with wade and lebron.

Either way, Here's a quote from CBSSportswire:
"There's one more element to consider here. Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak almost never does deals in public. The Pau Gasol trade came out of nowhere. Each deal he does is done very close to the ground and the Lakers' organization is notoriously leak-proof. So if the Lakers aren't the ones leaking this trade, who is? It may be an effort from the Nuggets to exert more leverage (lost in the Nets breakdown) on their dealings with New York, or it could be Melo's representatives putting pressure on New York to step up."

+1 This would not make the Lakers any better, especially vs Boston with Gasol and Odom on Perkins and Garnett & vs Miami vs Z(height) and Bosh.
That matchup looks like this for us
Chalmers= Fisher &Blake
Wade's D>= Kobe's O
Lebron > Melo
Bosh >Odom
Z = Gasol (length is his achilles heel)
This trade would probably also include Artest and make the Lakers very soft and vulnerable, while throwing a giant wrench into the gears of their chemistry, which is probably their best quality

Z = Gasol?Are you serious ?!haha I don't care if Z is 12 ft 9 he's slow and can't play any D.
Also i don't think 'Rio is better than Fisher.

I think Fisher is pretty useless at this point
he plays 27 mpg and averages 6.5 ppg & 2.8 apg
while RIO averages 21.8 mpg and 6.4 ppg & 2.2 apg
in addition to this RIO has a better FG & FT %
In addition to this, rio has youth, while fisher is a dinosaur

ANNNNND, Z didnt do a bad job on Gasol in the xmas day game 17 & 8
turned, their superstar double double machine into just a very good player.....Our centers effectively neutralized the threat.

as long as Gasol is limited and Bosh shines plays well(xmas: 24&13), I will consider Gasol a non threat

Over the years, Gasol has always had problems when he's being guarded by Big Z. His length gives him problems.

Kobe and Melo could share a ball? Kobe likes to have ball in his hands so do Melo. They both have kinda stricky characters....

No more Lakers, boring to see them in Finals already. Changes plz.
