Who knows where I can buy a Premod Cable Modem with a money order?the site that I frequently visit only accepts credit card and paypal and i'm not comfortable using those payment methods because the last modem I bought online...the manufacturer got busted by the feds.I just don't wanna leave a money trail behind.

Well it's illegal to hack cable modems to get free internet.the guy was also making a profit off it.funny he also told his customers to only use it for testing purposes knowing we'd do the exact opposite.my modem still works, but only with Comcast which I don't have at the moment.

I'd say it's not really worth it to bother getting internet for free. There's so many reasons not to, the most obvious and prominent... if you simply stand in the middle of a 4 way intersection, you will receive a wireless signal. In today's age you don't need to "buy" anything, it can be mooched or stolen! Well, in this case, the former over the latter... was my point...

But if you *really* want to risk feds for internet (and its worth it, sure) I can probably help.

No I'm perfectly aware. And no, I don't agree with it at all. But, that has nothing to do with me advocating illegal acts, which in itself is illegal. So don't get smart with me- it's not a wise choice. You won't win, not in a battle of law. And I'm not saying that means you should try, please don't, I don't want to make enemies~ I'm just trying to help.

I'm not saying you're advocating anything, but you trying to take the moral high ground with me is pointless.i'm well aware of what i'm asking of is illegal but that hasn't stopped others from committing these illegal acts on this very topic, especially when the people you're so fearful of commit illegals acts every minute of everyday.

...and if you don't wanna make any enemies than I suggest next time you speak to me and everyone here as an equal and not in a condescending manner.

I'm not... I don't pretend to be smarter than anybody here. After all I'm the one on a sports forum with no experience in sports... almost at all.

Additionally, don't condescend to me just because I'm new to the sports scene and because you're a mod. That's what I was saying in the last post. Not that I'm smarter- but I'm stubborn.

For future reference, I'm an irl friend of WB3, not just a random person come to this forum to troll up the place. I don't want to become board enemy #1 just because I have a certain way with words to make myself look like an ass (and I've done a good job at that so far), I want to help the community in any way possible.

Ok now I feel bad so lemme make it up by avoiding being an ass and actually helping you with your problem. Is this the guy you were talking about with the modded modems?

I agree with the guy. End users should take the blame, because he's offering a related service in itself. Actually the whole argument's stupid because Internet should be free in the first place but isn't. Phones, sure. But Internet on the very basis of how it works shouldn't have this additional monthly fee, it should only consist of whatever parts one needs to connect. It's like bottled water, why is this being charged for? More big business BS. Friggin' AT&T.

Truce miles?

You brought up a good point with the monopoly that is AT&T .i've also been reading for years that the Government wants to restrict internet access to only popular sites and to pay a subscription to use everything else.that's why i'm looking for a backdoor.I know it's risky, but *shrug*.

Yes plox, truce. I'm not afraid of the government, in my original post I made that comment at the bottom there to be funny specifically because I'm NOT afraid of them. I've got about 1.5TB of torrented stuff, so I'm as guilty as the next guy.

From what I can tell of about 5 seconds of googlework, ebay seems to sell modded modems of all varieties for about what you'd pay for a subscritpion for one month.

Interesting tidbit, I actually just wrote a research paper for english class about Internet Censorship. The governemtn is trying really hard to control the internet but it wont work, and it wont work for the same reason the PSN got taken down recently- because no matter how hard anyone tries, if there's a wall, some hacker WILL find a backdoor. ALWAYS. Besdies china's a golden example of why internet censorship is bad, I mean look at them. THey'd be fully developed by now if they had fully liberal/economic use of their internet. Free market is where it's at, man!

Honestly I believe it's a bunch of nonsense, these consiracy theories. However, the government is similarly not the infallible gem politicains say it is, WikiLeaks is proof of that. In my opinion, everyone on Capitol Hill is in it for themselves first and others second, and that leads to a lot of selfish and often secretive/illegal decisions being made and lies being told, which is why people generate these conspiracy theories on the first place. It all looks so suspicious, and that's because it is, but I think people look to much into it. I say, it's human nature for politicians to be as greedy and shifty as they are. The reason I don't think they have a conspiracy going is because every 6 years about one third of congress is completely new. As slow as congress is in the first place, and as rabid for a story as the media is, it's not really feasible for the entire government to try and pull anything large scale. If they could, I think, they would have already. They're all to focused upon themselves to work together in a concerted effort like that and as such I don't believe they do. After all we had this big government shutdown thing recently just because the houses can't agree on shit.

And that's my blurb on the Governments.
