Not sure how many MMA fans there are on this forum at the moment but I thought I would make a thread to talk about UFC events (mostly the about the Cards since they're are no storylines or much news in the UFC)
UFC 126
UFC 126 in my opion is on pace to be the most stacked UFC ever since UFC 100.
Forrest Griffin vs Rich Franklin: This is definately going to be an exciting fight, and I expect most of it to stay standing. Neither of these two fighters are in contention for a belt but Nevertheless both are ALWAYS in exciting fights. I have Franklin taking this one most likely by Decision.
Jon Jones vs Ryan Bader: I've been looking foward to this fight for a while now. By far the 2 most exciting prospects in the UFC. Both fighters are considered to be the future of the LHW division, and both are great wrestlers, with Jones being a better striker and having a better reach as well. Fight could go either way and the winner of this fight should be in line for a title shot. I really dont know how to call this one, but I think Bader is a slightly better wrestler and has more power as well, I can see him winning by decision or maybe TKO.
Anderson Silva vs Vitor Belfort: This is going to be a high technical striking battle, and I have to say, this is probably the first time that Silva faces someone in the UFC who has the ability to knock him out. Vitor Belfort is one of the top Boxers in the UFC. However I see Silva winning this fight but I expect it to be close.
Anyway, what are your guys picks? Any other cards you interested in can be discussed here as well. |

I don't watch much of UFC, I'll catch Brock Lesnar highlights and stuff like that everyonce in a while.
I watch a little bit of StrikeForce on YT every now and then even though it is disorganized and a poor man's UFC, but they are pretty exciting. The Diaz brothers, Mayhem Miller and Jake Shields are/were all on there I believe, you should have seen the brawl that happened after a show, Mayhem held his own in a 10-on-1 situation, it was crazy! |

Yeah I saw that brawl at strikeforce, funny stuff. I have respect for Strikeforce as well because they actually put a card down here in Miami which I was able to attend.
And Jake Shields is going to fight GSP at UFC 129. Should be an interesting fight since Shields was able to beat Dan Henderson who's at Middle Weight.
Dana White has already confirmed that If Silva beats Vitor, and if GSP beats Shields, we'll see Silva vs GSP. |

Yeah man UFC 126 and UFC 129 are going to be stacked ass cards.
Jones vs Bader, Silva vs Belfort at 126, and Machida vs Couture, GSP vs Shields at 129. This could possibly be the geatest year in MMA history. And the WEC-UFC merger will only make it better. |

griffin franklin is a main event by itself. I hope Silva beats belfort because I would really like to see GSP vs Silva. Overall great fights and depending on how epic the fights are will determine where this ppv ranks |

Junior Dos Santos: Brock Lesnar has a weak chin
Quote: |
Dos Santos – who had never met his opposing coach in person prior to the start of filming earlier this week – admits he was a bit shocked at just how massive Lesnar really is. However, he's far from intimidated by his giant foe.
"I'm very excited to fight with him," Dos Santos said. "He's a pretty big fighter, and I think he is very dangerous. But I think the fight against him will be very good for me because I think I am faster than him, and I'm going to use my boxing, for sure. I always use my boxing to win fights. That's going to happen again.
"I think he doesn't accept punches very well. I don't know why. I guess because he's from wrestling. I am from boxing. I have no problem with punches. The guys can punch me, and I feel nothing. I just keep going. That doesn't happen with him. He's got a weak chin."
It's about as close as you'll ever get to trash talk from the always affable Dos Santos. But he doesn't mean the words as anything other than what he considers simple fact after watching Lesnar's recent fights with Velasquez and Shane Carwin.

This isn't really a UFC question but an MMA question.
Who do you think would win in a organized fight: Hong Man Choi or Shaquille O'Neal? I know that Choi destroyed the baseball player (what was he? 6' tall and 200lbs?) but I also know that Shaq has trained in MMA and various martial arts for over a decade and has taken and thrown punches in organized fights with professional boxers (some legends).
My guess is that Choi may win, but in no way would he destroy Shaq like how I read on some Youtube Comments. Shaq would not back down or be intimidated by Choi like the baseball player was. I saw Fedor beat Choi with an arm-bar, I know Shaq is no Fedor but I believe Shaq could stay competitive and even beat Choi. What are your thoughts? |

WB3 as a huge fan of MMA I know that it's practically impossible to answer that question if we've never seen Shaq fight. Alot has to do with how good is BJJ is, we don't know if he has good takedown offense or defense, and we also don't know how strong his chin is. (Keep in mind that being big/strong =\= strong chin) |

I do agree with that 3K, but did you watch Shaq VS in Season 1 or 2? Shaq took punches from guys like Oscar De La Hoya and he got on the ground on his knees in front of Shane Mosley and took like 60 punches to the face. I might be being a homer here, but sometimes tells me that he can take a punch and that Man Choi doesn't hit harder than De La Hoya.
But we also don't know if Shaq has a ground game, but I doubt that fight would take to the ground. Jose Canseco was afraid of Man Choi, it was obvious throughout the fight, Shaq would probably be right there exchanging punches with him. I also think Shaq might be stronger, but once again just homerism. |

I'm not sure now that you mention it. Maybe I will have to lookup the video later. BTW, who do you think is the best MMA Fighter in the game today? |

You can go with anyone between these four: Fedor, Overeem, GSP, and Silva.
Fedor is the GOAT no doubt, but I would say Overeem is the best fighter as in today. He has practically the strength of Lesnar, Excellent Takedown defense and the technique of a K1 level striker. Prime Fedor > Current Overeem but Current Overeem > Current Fedor IMO. |
